「カップリング Coupling」とは、二つの連動しているシステムが、相互に決定関係のない媒介変数を提供しあっている作動様式である（河本英夫.2002）。

このドローイングは二人一組で描いている。それぞれ独自のルールをもつ迷路と三色のセルオートマトンで構成されており、それぞれを別の人間が描いている。迷路が先行して描かれ、セルオートマトンの時間発展と空間を規定する。ただし、セルオートマトンのルールは迷路から自律して作動している（エラーによる再帰性のゆらぎを含む）。
このようなスタイルで、二種類のパターン・ドローイングが協応（カップリング）する動態を視覚化している。

"Coupling" is an actuation that has two related systems which offer their parameters to each other without making decisions interactively. (Hideo Kawamoto, 2002)

This work is drawn by a pair of two people. It is organized with three colours of cell-automaton which have their particular rules, and each of them has drawn by different person.
First the maze is drawn to define the time series and space of the automaton drawing. However the rule of automaton is working separately from the maze (which includes recursiviness of errors that happen once in a while).
This diagram visualizes the dynamics of the automaton drawing coupled with the maze drawing.
